Grand Seiko at Watches & Wonders 2026

Watches & Wonders 2026 proved to be one of Grand Seiko's most ambitious showings yet. Spanning artistic haute horlogerie, nature-inspired dials, and genuine technical innovation, the Japanese manufacture brought something for almost every kind of collector. Here is a look at every watch they launched.

Grand Seiko Mystic Waterfall

The standout artistic piece of the event, the Mystic Waterfall is the newest entry in Grand Seiko's Special Engraving series. The 40mm platinum case, bezel, lugs, and the majority of the dial are all hand-engraved by traditional Japanese artisans. The chaotic, spray-like pattern draws its inspiration from the Tateshina Otaki Falls, a waterfall deep in the forest near Grand Seiko's Spring Drive workshop.

Inside sits the 9R02 manual Spring Drive movement, offering an 84-hour power reserve and an accuracy of +/- 1 second per day. The dial is finished with white gold Dauphine hands and a blued seconds hand, perfectly complementing the platinum engravings.

Grand Seiko 'Ushio' Diver Spring Drive UFA

The headline innovation of the show is the Ushio Diver, which brings the Ultra Fine Accuracy (UFA) concept to Grand Seiko's dive watch lineup for the very first time. The watch is a follow-up to the 2022 Kuroshio Black Stream Diver but comes in a significantly more compact package — 40.84mm x 12.94mm compared to the previous 43.8mm x 13.8mm — while simultaneously improving water resistance from 200m to a professional-grade 300m.

The dial is inspired by the ocean currents around the Japanese archipelago and is offered in either blue or green. Legibility has been improved through the switch from circular to rectangular hour markers, which carry more lume, and a new wedge-shaped hour hand that creates a stronger visual contrast.

The centrepiece is the new 9RB1 Spring Drive movement, a power reserve indicator variant of the 9RB2 debuted last year. It delivers a 72-hour power reserve and the extraordinary accuracy of +/- 20 seconds per year — the definition of Ultra Fine Accuracy.

Grand Seiko 'Ice Forest at Dawn' Spring Drive UFA

Building on the success of last year's Ice Forest UFA collection, Grand Seiko has released a second special edition — this time presenting the 37mm Evolution 9 case in 18ct yellow gold for the first time. The boutique-exclusive piece is limited to just 80 pieces.

The dial takes a more subtle approach to the Ice Forest texture, restricting it to a horizontal band across the centre of the display. The upper and lower portions of the dial fade into deep black, flecked with gold to evoke a starry sky before dawn breaks over a larch forest in Japan's Suwa region.

Grand Seiko Cherry Blossoms 'Sakura-Wakaba' Hi-Beat

The Sakura-Wakaba is the sole non-Spring Drive wristwatch in Grand Seiko's Watches & Wonders lineup, and a sign that the brand continues to serve traditional mechanical collectors alongside its Spring Drive devotees. The name translates to 'cherry blossom and young leaves', celebrating the turning of the season and new growth — a step forward from last year's Sakura-Kakushi, which depicted cherry blossoms hidden by snow.

The 38mm 18ct yellow gold case follows the classic 62GS design. The light silvery-green dial carries the same dappled, frosty texture as its predecessor but adopts a cooler, greener tone to reflect the warmth of spring progressing. Inside is the 9S85 Hi-Beat automatic movement, running at 36,000 vph with a 55-hour power reserve.

Grand Seiko 'Iwao Blue' Spring Drive — Online Boutique Exclusive

The Iwao Blue is a modernised take on the 2021 Katsu-Iro online exclusive, retaining the deep indigo colour and rock-surface inspired texture that made the original so popular. The new version simplifies the dial considerably by removing the power reserve indicator and date window, resulting in a cleaner, more refined presentation with narrower-faceted hour markers.

The 38.5mm steel case features sweeping, round lines and a smooth bezel, paired with a nine-link steel bracelet whose construction echoes a beads-of-rice design but with squarer links. The 9R31 Spring Drive movement provides manual-winding and a 72-hour power reserve, with the standard Spring Drive accuracy of +/- 1 second per day.

Grand Seiko 'Red Lion' Spring Drive 8-Day Jewellery Watch

For those seeking the ultimate in Grand Seiko opulence, the Red Lion is it. Produced by Grand Seiko's Micro-Artist Studio and limited to just eight pieces, the watch features over 250 diamonds — 267 in total, along with 26 garnets — set across the rose gold case, bezel, and dial.

The centrepiece of the dial is a red mother-of-pearl disc, surrounded by concentric rings of diamonds in different cuts that form the hour and minute scales. Despite the ornate design, the watch remains legible. The 9R01 Spring Drive movement runs with an extraordinary 8-day (192-hour) power reserve. The 44.5mm case is necessarily large to accommodate the multiple barrels required for such a reserve.

Grand Seiko 'Hana-Ikada' 32mm Ladies Watches

Grand Seiko closed out its Watches & Wonders slate with a pair of ladies watches in the 62GS design, measuring 32mm. The term Hana-ikada refers to the poetic Japanese image of cherry blossom petals falling onto a river and clustering together like tiny floral rafts. The two colourways — pale pink and intense blue — are designed to represent this image during daylight and at night respectively.

Both watches are powered by the 9F51 quartz movement, accurate to +/- 10 seconds per year — a figure worth noting given Grand Seiko's Spring Drive movements are themselves beginning to approach quartz-level precision.
