Longines Celebrates a Century of Dual Timekeeping with the Spirit Zulu Time 1925 Special Edition

Marking 100 years since the debut of Longines’ first dual-timezone wristwatch, the new Spirit Zulu Time 1925 blends heritage and innovation with a rose gold bezel, transparent caseback, and COSC-certified movement.

In 1925, Longines introduced its very first dual-timezone wristwatch, pioneering the way travelers and aviators kept track of the world. A century later, the brand honors that milestone with a remarkable new release: the Spirit Zulu Time 1925 Special Edition. This timepiece joins the Spirit Zulu Time collection, which debuted in 2022, bringing together historical inspiration and contemporary watchmaking expertise.

Encased in stainless steel with a 39mm case size, the Spirit Zulu Time 1925 strikes the perfect balance of tradition and wearability. For the first time in the collection, the bidirectional rotating bezel is fitted with a circular-brushed insert in 18K rose gold, offering an elegant contrast to the matte black dial. The rose gold-colored hands and applied indexes, coated with Super-LumiNova®, ensure outstanding visibility in any lighting condition. The dial also carries the Zulu Time collection’s signature five stars above the 6 o’clock marker, representing Longines’ highest quality standard, along with a discreet date window and the commemorative years 1925 – 2025.

Turning the watch over reveals another first for the Zulu Time line—a transparent caseback. Through it, the rose gold-colored PVD rotor, engraved with a planisphere marked by the Prime Meridian, comes into view. This detail pays homage to the global spirit of GMT travel. Inside beats the Longines Calibre L844.4, a COSC-certified chronometer movement developed exclusively for the brand. Equipped with a silicon balance spring and antimagnetic components, this automatic calibre offers an impressive 72-hour power reserve.

The Spirit Zulu Time 1925 is delivered with both a stainless steel bracelet and a black NATO strap, housed in a special-edition presentation box that highlights its centenary significance.

For 100 years, the Spirit Zulu Time has embodied Longines’ expertise in crafting watches that connect worlds and time zones. The very name “Zulu” recalls the original 1925 wristwatch, which bore the Zulu flag on its dial, and the universal time designation “Z” used by aviators across the globe. Today, the Spirit Zulu Time 1925 Special Edition stands as both a tribute to that pioneering history and a testament to Longines’ enduring pursuit of precision, elegance, and adventure.
